
Tourist take in the view as they make their way along the Great Wall of China, in Mutian, 70 kilometers (43 miles) north of Beijing, March 12, 2005. Listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987, the Great Wall stretches for 6,700 kilometers across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaux . Started more than 2000 years ago, it remains one of the world's most enduring tourist attractions. It is one of the 21 candidates for the new seven wonders of the world. The seven winners will be announced July 7, 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal.
